A family history about the Clancy family of Ardagh, Co. Cork, Ireland and the Glover family of Haddington and Edinburgh, Scotland. It includes the history of both families in their home country and the migration of William Clancy and Ellen Hegarty and their family to Van Diemen's Land in 1837 on the ill-fated Bussorah Merchant. The Clancy family then moved to Victoria and were early settlers in Melbourne, Belfast/Port Fairy, Wangoom and Garvoc. The story continues with their son William Clancey who marries Scottish born Helen Kinniburgh Glover who arrived in Victoria in 1865. The book goes on to tell William and Helen's story, their large family, acquisition of land in south-west Victoria and where they lived: Garvoc, Mortlake and Terang.Three of William and Helen's children married into the O'Connor family and the book goes on to briefly describe what they did, where they lived and their families.This book is not just a family history book. It will be of interest to anyone who has an interest in immigration history and the history of Van Diemen's land and Victoria. The history begins in 18th century Ireland and Scotland and ends in mid-20th century Victoria.
